A message from John Fucci, NACE Greater New Jersey Chapter Secretary Dear Greater NJ NACE Members,
As many of you know, NACE held its Annual National Conference in Austin, Texas.
As our Greater New Jersey Chapter was one of 2 new chapters this year (Portland, the other), I and fellow board member, Lucmann Pierre, traveled to Austin to accept our official certification.
Lucmann and I got to meet the National Board, and got to understand more about NACE as an organization: what it is now, where it has been, where the leadership wants to take it and what separates it from other event industry organizations.
As representatives of our chapter, we were warmly welcomed and presented our certification before the president’s council (a group of presidents and representatives from NACE’s other 40 chapters).
I was asked many times about the challenges of starting a new chapter and began to realize that most attendees do not have this experience. Chapters are mostly represented by members that came onto existing boards and they were genuinely impressed and curious as to how we did it.
I also mentioned the support we received from New York and South Jersey and how some of our key members are from these areas. And, finally I spoke about the importance of having creative and stimulating programs at exciting venues to maintain the momentum we’ve enjoyed. Although, I could not stay for the whole event, it was an exciting 36 hours! I can tell you first hand that NACE is growing and has its eye on the future with relevant ideas and programs to offer the event industry.
I thank all of you for your support thus far and look forward to being a part of our continued success.
